Women's Lacrosse Earns Road Victory Over Chowan

MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The St. Andrews women's lacrosse team defeated Chowan by a score of 14-13 in a non-conference contest on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Knights notch their second victory of the season and improve to 2-4 overall.

The Knights held a 9-4 advantage at halftime thanks to a great offensive attack that saw multiple goal scorers. Kennedy Martin (SO/Wilmington, NC) scored three goals in the first period and Skii Bollinger (SR/Wilmington, NC) added three of her own in the second. Lyndsea Walker (SO/Bowie, MD) put two goals in goal in the first half to add to the cause.

Chowan added five goals in the halftime break but the Knights remained ahead 11-9 at the end of the third period.

Asiah Dewberry (JR/Avon Park, FL) put things out of reach as she scored two goals in the fourth period and secured a hat trick on the day.

The Knights would go on to outshoot Chowan 36-33 despite committing 22 turnovers.

Bollinger finished with four goals, seven draw controls, and four ground balls. Dewberry added three goals, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Martin contributed three goals, four caused turnovers, and three ground balls.

Rebekah Schuyler (SO/Carolina Shores, NC) and Lexi Sardinas (FR/Cary, N.C.) added a goal apiece for the Knights.

Marlen Bravo (JR/North Myrtle Beach, SC) finished with 14 saves in her first start in goal.

St. Andrews will return home for an AAC contest against No. 7 SCAD Savannah on Mar. 16 at 2:00 pm.
