Women's Lacrosse Struggles to Keep Up With No. 5 Reinhardt

LAURINBURG, N.C. - The Knights struggled on both sides of the field in a Saturday afternoon women's lacrosse contest against No. 5 Reinhardt. St. Andrews fell to the Eagles 18-5 and now drop to a 3-6 overall record and 2-2 in AAC play.

Kennedy Martin (SO/Wilmington, NC) led the Knights with two goals, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Lexi Sardinas (FR/Cary, N.C.)' two goals matched Martin as the only other player with multiple goals. Alia Loydd (JR/Lake Wales, FL) accounted for the final goal of the day for St. Andrews.

At the end of the first period, the Knights were within striking distance being down 2-1. In the second frame, the Eagles found their offensive rhythm and put eight goals in the net, and rode a 10-3 at the halftime break.

St. Andrews scored one goal in the third and one goal in the fourth and struggled to keep Reinhardt from controlling the possession.

Reinhardt outshot the Knights 30-16 and out hustled St. Andrews by securing 32 ground balls to the Knights 19.

St. Andrews will now head to Gainesville, Ga. to take on Brenau on March 30 at 5:00 pm.
