Knights Hold Off Truett-McConnell, 18-15

CLEVELAND, Ga. - St. Andrews opened up a strong first half and controlled the tempo throughout the game in an 18-15 women's lacrosse victory Truett-McConnell. With the win over the Bears, St. Andrews improves to 6-6 overall and 5-2 in AAC play.

St. Andrews opened up the game with three straight goals in the first five minutes of the game. After giving up a goal in the ninth minute, Asiah Dewberry (JR/Avon Park, FL) and Alia Loydd (JR/Lake Wales, FL) tailed the Knights fourth and fifth goals respectively. Truett-McConnell closed out the opening period with three unanswered goals.

The Knights remained ahead going into halftime as they added three goals on nine shots in the second period. St. Andrews remained stout on defense to close the half with an 8-6 advantage.

Kennedy Martin (SO/Wilmington, NC) added two goals and an assist in the third, while Skii Bollinger (SR/Wilmington, NC) and Lexi Sardinas (FR/Cary, N.C.) added a goal apiece giving the Knights a 12-8 lead heading into the final period.

Despite trailing all game, Truett-McConnell added seven goals in the final frame and remained within striking distance until the final whistle.

Martin, Bollinger, and Sardinas finished with four goals to lead the Knights. Martin added 15 ground balls, 12 draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Lloyd contributed three goals while Dewberry added two goals and seven ground balls.

The Knights return home for Senior Day and the regular season finale on Saturday, April 9 against Tennessee Wesleyan at 11:00 am.
