Knights Cruise to Victory on Senior Day

LAURINBURG, N.C. - The St. Andrews women's lacrosse team defeated Tennessee Wesleyan by a score of 17-5 on Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Knights a 7-6 record on the season with a 6-2 mark in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play.

The Knights opened up the game with three straight goals in the first eight minutes. St. Andrews held the Bulldogs scoreless in the opening period until the one-minute mark when Tennessee Wesleyan ended the shutout with a goal.

St. Andrews outshot the Bulldogs 8-6 in the second period and controlled the possession by securing 10 ground balls in the period. Lexi Sardinas (FR/Cary, N.C.) and Alia Loydd (JR/Lake Wales, FL) each scored in the second and helped up the lead to 5-3 at halftime.

The third period was the best period of the day for the Knights. St. Andrews put in five goals after 10 minutes of play in the third. Tennessee Wesleyan added four goals of their own but still trailed the Knights 11-7 heading into the final period.

Defensively, the Knights held Tennessee Wesleyan scoreless in the fourth and closed out the game by forcing the Bulldogs into 32 turnovers. The Knights finished the final frame with four goals on 14 shots.

Skii Bollinger (SR/Wilmington, NC) led the Knights with five goals, two assists, three draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Loydd tallied a season-high four goals on six shots and contributed two assists. Kennedy Martin (SO/Wilmington, NC) finished with two goals, a team-high nine ground balls, and forced three turnovers.

Marlen Bravo (JR/North Myrtle Beach, SC) had an impressive day in goal with 14 saves and six ground balls.

The Knights will now prepare for their AAC Championships opponent which has not been determined.
