Knights Open Up AAC Championships with 19-3 Victory Over Point
WALESKA, Ga. - The St. Andrews women's lacrosse team advanced to the semi-final round of the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships with a 19-3 win over Point on Thursday afternoon.
The Knights, who are 8-6 on the season, outshot the Skyhawks by a margin of 39-11 and registered 30 shots on goal. The Knights also picked up 41 ground balls and won 18 draw controls in the victory.
Asiah Dewberry (JR/Avon Park, FL) paced the Knights with five goals, seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Alia Loydd (JR/Lake Wales, FL) contributed four goals, an assist, and five ground balls, while Lexi Sardinas (FR/Cary, N.C.) added three goals, six ground balls, and six draw controls.
Kennedy Martin (SO/Wilmington, NC), Skii Bollinger (SR/Wilmington, NC), and Eliza Denten (SO/Waxhaw, NC) each added two goals for St. Andrews.
After earning AAC Defensive Player of the Week honors earlier in the week, Marlen Bravo (JR/North Myrtle Beach, SC) picked up the win in goal with seven saves.
The Knights will now face the tournament host Reinhardt University on Friday, April 15 at 1:00 pm
