Knights Fall to No. 4 Reinhardt in AAC Quarterfinals
WALESKA, Ga. - After advancing with a win over Point on Thursday, the St. Andrews women's lacrosse team had the difficult task of matching up with No. 4 Reinhardt on Friday afternoon, falling 26-3 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships.
With the loss, the Knights end their season with an 8-7 overall record and 6-2 (AAC), while Reinhardt improves to 11-2, 6-1 (AAC).
The Eagles put things away early in the game as they scored 11 points in the opening period and added 6 in the second. St. Andrews was held scoreless and was unable to get any offensive momentum and was limited to four shots in the first half.
Kennedy Martin (SO/Wilmington, NC) scored the first goal for the Knights with 2:44 to play in the third. Martin would later assist Skii Bollinger (SR/Wilmington, NC) to open up the fourth period making it 23-2 in favor of Reinhardt. The final goal of the day for St. Andrews came on a connection between Lyndsea Walker (SO/Bowie, MD) and Lexi Sardinas (FR/Cary, N.C.) with 4:36 left in the game.
Martin finished with eight ground balls and two draw controls.
The Knights were outshot 11-44 and were forced into 10 turnovers.
