Men’s Basketball struggle to keep pace with Union Bulldogs on Senior Night

The Knights, despite a close and competitive close half, ran out of steam against the Union Bulldogs during their last home game of the season.

Union brought their "A-game" to Harris Court, aided by a 12-28 3PTM (42.9%) over the Knights' 3-17 3PTM (17.6%) in the first half. A close back-and-forth kept the contest a one possession game, with the Knights trailing by a slim three points going into half-time, 42-45.

However, it was more than just missed 3 pointers for the Knights that made the home game slip out of their grasp, with the second half marked with multiple turnovers that prohibited the Knights from seizing the lead.

The Bulldogs made good on trips to the free-throw line, shooting 12-16 for a 75% made. In the second half, and the Knights found the deficit increased to 15 (59-74) by the 10 minute mark. The Bulldogs did not give away anything for free, playing tight defense and error free offense,  giving them the conference win over the Knights, 74-98.

Knights Sincere Clark was still able to rack up an impressive 12 rebounds today, and SAU’s Garret McRae was able to tie for most points scored in the game with Union’s Terrin Hamilton.

With this loss, the Knights find themselves 5-19, 3-19 in conference. They will look to finish up the season strong on the road against Truett-McConnell on February 21, 7:30 PM EST, and then Saturday, February 24, against Milligan.
