Knights men’s basketball struggles to keep up against Tennessee Wesleyan

A competitive first third of the Knight’s home game with the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs petered out as their field goal percentage could not keep up with their opponents, marking another loss this week for the team.

An entertaining back and forth in the first half found the Knights keeping their slim score lead. Garret McRae and Allan Taylor’s consecutive scoring thereafter were able to push the Knights to a slightly more comfortable six-point difference at 18-13, Knights.

However, the Bulldogs were not going to allow the Knights to keep their steady lead, and after a stale handful of minutes for the Knights, they were able to push past the score line. They gained a seven-point lead by the 9th minute of the half.

This was all the momentum Tennessee Wesleyan needed to rapidly outpace the Knights, maintaining a superior field goal percentage and leave the Knights spun around at 27-42 by the end of the first half.

Beginning of the 2nd, after a score by the Bulldogs, Knights Quwan Barnes answers right back with his own layup that gets followed up by a score from McRae to make it 44-31. However, shortly after, the Bulldogs continued with their first half prowess, and had the Knights trailing 33-60 with 13 minutes left in the 2nd.

The Knights were unable to make the clutch shots to keep it close, ending with the Bull Dogs taking the win 79-53.

The Knights shot 20% from three-point range quadrupling that of the Bulldogs 5%.

With this loss, the Knights find themselves at 3-15, 1-15 in conference.

The St. Andrews Knights next match will be at Johnson, TN on the January 24 at 7:30 P.M.
