St. Andrews Knights Fall Short on Senior Night Against Tennessee Wesleyan

In an emotionally charged match on Senior Night, the St. Andrews Knights faced off against Tennessee Wesleyan but ultimately fell 2-0. The evening was particularly special for the seniors, who were celebrated for their contributions to the team and the university.

The first half saw the Knights putting pressure on the Tennessee Wesleyan defense with several corner kicks and shots, primarily by standout Pablo Diezhandino. Despite a strong effort and a couple of close calls, including shots saved by Tennessee's goalie Leo Summers, St. Andrews couldn't find the back of the net.

As the match progressed, Tennessee Wesleyan took the lead with a goal from Robin Vezinhet in the 38th minute, assisted by Jake Fisher. This early advantage shifted the momentum, leaving the Knights searching for an equalizer as the first half came to a close.

The second half began with renewed hope for St. Andrews, but their efforts were met with solid defense from Tennessee Wesleyan. Grant Barron doubled the visitors' lead just five minutes into the half, making it 2-0. Despite a flurry of corner kicks and relentless attempts to push forward, the Knights struggled to convert their chances into goals.

As the clock wound down, the seniors on the team, including Juan Bautista Quarleri Gil and Sebastian Winn-Araneda, fought valiantly, showcasing their skill and determination. However, St. Andrews couldn't find a breakthrough against a disciplined Tennessee Wesleyan defense.

The match concluded with the Knights reflecting on their hard-fought season as they bid farewell to their seniors. While the result was not what they hoped for, the spirit and resilience displayed on the field exemplified the pride of St. Andrews University. The Knights will carry these lessons forward as they look to regroup for future seasons.
