St. Andrews Knights Take on Truett-McConnell for Senior Night
Last night, the St. Andrews Knights faced off against the Truett-McConnell Bears in a crucial conference matchup that marked both their final home game of the season and a heartfelt Senior Night celebration. Although the Knights fell to the Bears in straight sets, the evening was a testament to the team's dedication and the contributions of its seniors.
The match started with the Knights struggling to find their rhythm. Truett-McConnell jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on several attack errors by St. Andrews. After a quick timeout, Jade Alvarez rallied the team, delivering a critical kill that provided a spark. However, despite their efforts, the Knights dropped the first set 25-9.
As the second set commenced, St. Andrews displayed greater resilience. They began to connect better as a team, with Madison Larrimore and Faith Wilson contributing to the offense. Despite their improved performance, the Bears' relentless attack proved too strong, and the Knights lost the set 25-14.
In the third set, St. Andrews fought hard to reclaim momentum. With improved communication and a determination to honor their senior players, they showed glimpses of their potential. Jade Alvarez, a key player in her second season with the Knights, continued to push forward, adding to her impressive stats, which include 236 kills, 92 digs, and 62 blocks.
The evening was particularly special for two seniors: Jade Alvarez and Bailey Zivitski. Bailey, a cornerstone of the Knights for the past five years, has been a leader both on and off the court. She reached a significant milestone this season, surpassing 1,000 career digs, and has also been a vital member of the Beach Volleyball team for the last four years. The support from fans and teammates underscored the impact she has had on the program.
Though the Knights ultimately lost the match 25-11, the focus was on honoring the contributions of their seniors and looking forward to the future. The team demonstrated resilience and spirit throughout the night, highlighting the foundation they are building for the seasons to come.
As the St. Andrews Knights prepare for their upcoming matches, they will look to build on the lessons learned and continue to grow. With the leadership of players like Bailey and Jade, along with a talented roster, the Knights remain hopeful for a strong finish to the season. Fans can look forward to seeing how this team evolves in the coming weeks, fueled by the pride of Senior Night and the promise of new beginnings.
